I am a DPhil (PhD) candidate in Politics at the University of Oxford. My research sits at the intersection of political economy and comparative politics, with a focus on democratic innovations.
I am supervised by Prof. Petra Schleiter and affiliated with the Department of Politics and International Relations.

Research
My DPhil thesis examines the impact of democratic innovations on the quality of governance in Europe, with a focus on participatory and deliberative tools. I draw on the methods from comparative politics and political economy to analyze the effects of these innovations on citizen engagement, policy responsiveness, and regime support.

Working Paper | Mayor Recalls as an Accountability Mechanism
The paper developes a formal model of mayoral recalls as an accountability mechanism and applies it to the case of German municipalities.
